Throughout Series 4 Episode 1 of ‘Art Layers with Hornsby Art Society’, hosted by Hornsby artist Hadijah
Munting, will bring listeners, the Koel our local and migratory bird that travels to Australia to breed from
Eastern Indonesia and or Papua New Guinea each year. They are known to live somewhere between 12 – 15 years and in Indian folklore the Koel is known to be a lucky bird.
The first episode will include Hadijah’s informal interview with the Secretary of the Hornsby Art Society and accomplished visual artist, Leonie Fisher, giving us an update on the forthcoming exhibitions and events.
Hadijah will also probe the world of Leonie Fischer her inspirations, and how inherently resourceful, resilient and ambitious artists are in general and their love of art.

Special guest Mary Faith Director of the Grace Cossington Smith gallery Abbotsleigh giving us an insight into what this job entails and her personal journey as an Abbotsleigh student and an Abbotsleigh teacher.
In Episode 2 of ‘Art Layers with Hornsby Art Society’, host local artist Hadijah Munting has another chat with the secretary of the Hornsby Art Society, Leonie Fisher, on insights into the varied and interesting experiences that the Hornsby Art Society offers its members.
In this episode, listeners will be treated to bird song from Oberon, morning chatter by our avian friends.
Hadijah also interviews Dr John Giblin, in general you will be able to hear particular details of John’s personal life–growing up, schooling–and his remarkable achievements.
Musician, Kane Stewart, returns with his performance of another amazing and thought-provoking original
song.
In Episode 3 of ‘Art Layers with Hornsby Art Society’, host Hadijah Munting chats with Leonie Fischer,
secretary of the Hornsby Art Society, who fills listeners in about the many painting group opportunities
available.
As in previous episodes, listeners will be treated to bird song from Songs of Disappearance, an album of
Australian bird calls created to draw attention to endangered and threatened species of Australian birds.
Hadijah also talks with the diversely talented Di Bowls about her challenging juggling act with family, career and being a volunteer at ‘The Cottage Brooklyn’. Listeners hear how being part of The Cottage Community art gallery has empowered the community.
Harriett Bennet returns with another one of her original and captivating songs.
Hadijah also interviews Roz Cameron. Listeners will perceive how inherently resourceful, resilient and
ambitious educators are. In general, you will hear details of Roz’s life growing up on a farm in Yenda.
In Episode 4 of ‘Art Layers with Hornsby Art Society’, host Hadijah Munting chats with Leonie Fischer,
secretary of the Hornsby Art Society, who fills listeners in about being a volunteer for the Hornsby art Society.
In this episode, listeners will be treated to bird song from Kalkari track Mt Colah.
Chatting with Environmentalist Beverley Gwatkin. Listeners learn more of her career in Pharmaceuticals plus the significant and interesting details of St Ives Wildflower gardens and the numerous volunteer groups.
