Station News: All Aussie August Almanac

1/8/2016

Following on from their 250th episode in June there’s plenty to look forward to in the month of August on Thursday nights on The Music Almanac.

It’s an all Australian music month for the show on Triple H 100.1FM as host Rufus Onfire digs into the archives to offer up a smorgasbord of songs and great tunes to get your ears humming.

Classic tracks, current hits, cool indie classics, emerging artists and timeless tunes, you name it the genre will get a look in when August rolls around and we take a look over more than 5 decades of Antipodean artistry on August 13 & 20. And as an extra treat the month of shows will be bookended by 2 Music Almanac Artist Profiles on iconic artists worthy of such a gong.
Week 1 sees The Music Almanac profile one of their favourite Aussie artists and ARIA Hall Of Famers The Church. Now in their 4th decade as a collective unit, Rufus will dive into their collection of recorded works to soundtrack the story of a band that has endured with a devoted fan base both here and abroad. One not to miss on August 6.

And the month of All Things Aussie gets rounded out with a long overdue Artist Profile on the one and only Radio Birdman. Groundbreaking, iconic, critically acclaimed are just some of the accolades that could be used to described “Birdman”, and some may say 2 hours isn’t enough to do their musical story and legacy justice for these ARIA Hall Of Famers, which should make a jam packed show of great music come August 28 to round things out.

All Aussie

All August

On The Music Almanac

You know you want to join us on Triple H 100.1 FM Thursdays in August don’t you!
The Music Almanac (with Rufus Onfire) – Thursdays 8pm-10pm on Triple H 100.1FM

The Board of HHH FM is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Rod Thomas to the position of Station Manager.
The much awaited appointment comes at the end of an exhaustive process involving a specially commissioned Station Manager Sub-Committee.
After receiving no less than 26 applications from around Australia and from as far afield as the Phillipines, the Sub-Committee interviewed 6 shortlisted candidates last month before offering the position to Mr. Thomas.
Mr. Thomas has accepted the offer, and this was ratified by the HHH-FM Board at a specially convened Board Meeting last week.
Rod Thomas brings a wealth of experience to the position which includes:
  • 2 Years as Station Manager at Community Radio Station 99.3FM, Chatswood –where he was instrumental in turning around that station’s fortunes from voluntary administration to solvency in under 2 years
  • 2 Years Board Membership at Community Station 2BOB-FM, Taree, NSW
  • Current involvement as presenter of the nationally relayed “Good Morning Country” program across the Community Radio Network to over 55 Community Radio Stations across Australia every Tuesday morning
  • 12 Years as a presenter at a number of Community Radio Stations in Sydney and NSW
  • A fully qualified Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from TAFE NSW
  • A fully qualified Certificate III in Media from the Community Media Training Organisation
The Sub Committee was overwhelmed with the quality of applications for the position.
Amongst those short listed/interviewed were a former Station Manager and Board Chairman of HHH-FM, a Commercial Radio professional of 20+ years standing who has worked with Radio Luminaries as Doug Mulray and John Singleton, a current commercial radio announcer who lives locally, and HHH-FM’s current caretaker Programming Co-Ordinator Lachlan Wyllie.
It is anticipated that Rod will commence as Station Manager on Monday, May 9 and will work at least 4 days a week in the HHH-FM studios (every Monday, and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday).

For all inquiries – please call Station Manager Sub-Committee Chair and HHH-FM Board Member Tony Dosen on 0408 929 374.
