Presenter Profile: John Lee, Electric Barnyard and Classic Rock Express

31/3/2016

Picture
John Lee is the longest serving member of Triple H, having joined the station in August 2001, a month after its license was approved. Since then, he has continued to ensure Triple H remains focused on its core objectives in its role as a community broadcaster, and asset.
From work experience, to station manager, program presenter, and advocate for professional training programs offered to members, John has dedicated himself to provide Triple H and the community with a truly balanced connection through radio.

Over the years, John has helped numerous members through training, and in 2014 established the John Lee Training Scholarship to encourage more youth involvement at Triple H. This successful program gave us Teen Talk in 2015, still on air Mondays from 6pm. The 2016 program is well on track to deliver another show, planned to air from May, called 'In Between'. John is already planning for 2017.

And, if that wasn't enough to keep him busy, John presents 2 weekly shows, the longest established on Triple H. On Tuesday, from noon, it's the Electric Barnyard, country/blues experience, and Thursday, also from noon, it's the Classic Rock Express, loaded with great tracks from the 60's, 70's & 80's, thanks to the 'Boneman'.

John Lee manages all this whilst also managing major health issues. Mainly dialysis, done 3 days a week, which is where he befriended Dj Chunky P (Marcus), who sadly passed away in January this year. John is a battler, and brings a wealth of inspiration to members of Triple H and the community.

When asked what Triple H means to him, John says; "It's the connection between the station and the community, not just a local radio station, but a source of fun, entertainment, and communication, for everyone". When one looks for challenges in life, John adds this; "It has been an honor and privilege to be with Triple H all this time, and I hope my legacy will be that the radio station remains as the valuable community asset it is today".

Presenter Profile: Neil the Noob, Streetbeat - Fridays 4pm - 6pm

7/3/2016

Picture
Neil the Noob is at the helm of Triple H 100.1 FM's Streetbeat, our leading local news, politics and issues show. Every Friday from 4-6, Neil, Anthony Brewster (Monthly Chronicle), and Geoff Davis talk to local politician's, members of Council, community business owners, members of the community, and interested parties.

While Streetbeat is mostly a talk show, Neil picks a weekly music theme, but often doesn't get the time to play his full playlist.
"I was tricked into it by some silver-tongued devil at the Hornsby Hospital Fair in 2006," Neil said about his decision to join the station. But now that he's had the chance to have his own show, he says he loves the buzz he gets while on air.

When Neil took over the show from Shane, our current Chairman of the Board, he said, "I wanted the decision makers in Hornsby and Ku-Ring-Gai to have a chance to express themselves on air to their constituents."
Outside of Streetbeat, Neil does the accounts for Triple H 100.FM and helps out with outside broadcasts.
When asked why he likes helping out behind the scenes, Neil said, "I like the power..."
