Paul Sumner is a retired TAFE NSW teacher who, after retiring, has spent a considerable amount of time (voluntarily) with some of the many homeless and semi-homeless in Sydney. Using his skills as an artist, illustrator, and recorder of events, Paul has captured and recorded the condition of those that find themselves at the lower end of our society. Part of his time has also been spent at the ‘Loaves and fishes’ feeding station in Ashfield run by the Reverend Bill Crews’ Exodus Foundation.

With completing several exhibitions in Sydney during the past two and a half years, Paul has been undertaking this current exhibition of these works at Hornsby Library from Thursday 2nd August till Sunday 26 of August.

Bill Crews asked Paul Sumner recently to stop off in Thailand and visit the Exodus Foundations operation there. This operation at a place called the ‘Hub’ (see contact details below), which caters for adopted, abandoned and trafficked young children living on the streets of Bangkok.  Paul immediately agreed and stayed for a week, with my wife, in Bangkok where I spent some time at the hub with the clients ‘young people’ and decided to include a number of works, from references gathered there in the up and coming exhibition.

There are plans for a continuation of this project, helping the trafficked and abandoned children in Thailand but for this I would need more community and financial help. This is being discussed with Bill Crews and the Exodus Foundation at the moment.

Included below are some attachments of the works to be displayed. The ones with captions are from Sydney the ones without are the people from Thailand, stories yet to be written.

Any assistance, publicity, community help would be gratefully accepted.
